There are some awesome new faces in the YWJ community, so I thought I'd take some time to re-introduce myself.
Hey there š I'm Janet!

ā Iām a born-and-raised Floridian, transplanted to Baltimore, Maryland and here are 12 more things you might not know about meā¦
ā1ļøā£ On May 20, 1980 I met my husband, I often refer to him as "The Man" on social media, I was only 16. Seven weeks, to the day, later we got married, in my mother's living room, I was 17. Almost 41 years later (July 8th), we are still married to each other. ā 2ļøā£ We have three children; 2 sons and a daughter, and seven grand children, 5 girls and 2 boys; "The Littles". Our oldest little turned 18 this year. Our oldest son will turn 40 three weeks after our anniversary!!! ā 3ļøā£ In September 1995 I packed up my family and all of our belongings; including 9 birds, a cat, a turtle, and a hamster into a "K Car" (who remembers those?) and a Penske Truck and headed north to Baltimore! Although cell phones were around back then, you had to practically walk on water to be able to afford one, so we communicated on the road with CB radios!! "breaker, breaker"ā
4ļøā£ It took many years, but in 2006 we took a road trip to one of the places on our "bucket list". The Black Hills in South Dakota! It was all I had ever imagined and then some. I would pack up and move there in a minute, but I won't leave "the littles". ā 5ļøā£ I haven't always been a yoga teacher. In fact, I flunked gym in high school!!! Who does that? Iāve been teaching yoga for a little over three years, and it is work that truly lights me up. I also work with yoga teachers and try to give them the support I wish Iād had when I was out of training. ā 6ļøā£ I am a marathoner. I ran my first of 8 half marathons in 2014, in 2015 I ran my first marathon, in 2016 my daughter and I challenged ourselves to run 5 half marathons in 5 weekends with a 5K thrown in for good measure, then in 2017 I ran the Baltimore Half Marathon on Saturday and MCM Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday! ā 7ļøā£ I am not flexible! I cannot stand on my head or put my feet behind my head. Guess what? You don't need to be flexible to do yoga!!! It makes my heart happy to see people who think they "can't do" yoga fall in love with the practice. ā 8ļøā£ Over the past year, Iāve invested a lot of time and $$ into myself and my business. Itās been scary AF (I can cuss like crazy at times) but I would do it all again in a heartbeat. ā 9ļøā£ Yoga makes me a better me. Before yoga came into my life, I wasnāt always nice to myself, I was judgmental. Yoga has taught me I am right where I am meant to be. I am a nurturer at heart and have always been a "fixer". Yoga is teaching me to nurture and hold space for others without having to "fix" whatever it is. I haven't mastered it yet, I am definitely a work in progress, but I am learning. ā š I am a serious chocoholic! Dark chocolate is my favorite. But, I do love all the sweet things too...cake, pie, candy, cookies, ice cream (my favorite is peppermint stick)ā¦you name it. l i t e r a l l y a l l t h e t h i n g s. ā 1ļøā£1ļøā£ I am a voracious reader. From Jr High on I would check out 5-6 books each day, at the school library, read them and return for more the next day! Romance, chick lit, and cozy mysteries are my favorite. Believe it or not I truly loved the 50 Shades of Grey series once I got into the back story... ā 1ļøā£2ļøā£ I am perfectly imperfect, and that's okay. Yoga has taught me to accept where I am today. ā What about you? Hit reply and share some fun facts about yourself!
Until the next time,
